Hello-

Got the itch to drill out my muffler a bit. It's the end of the season and I figured if I don't like it I have some time to work on it this winter.

Bottom line: I basically drilled two modest holes in the back plate. I like the sound a whole lot better. I'm *definitely* more noticed, as indicated by people's looks and my new awareness of dogs near the roadside. I would like a deeper sound than this provides, but for free, I'll stick with the muffler as is for now. I also feel the sound is under legal limits.

This is a pretty risk free job. I was told by a friend that you can plug these holes pretty easily if you don't like the sound.

I posted the simple job (with photos) at my web site under --> Tips & How-To's --> Drilled Muffler.

Those of you that ride all year, ride safe and often. Those of us that are facing winter, read a lot of cycle mags! That's what I do!
